I am delighted to announce that following the news from the Welsh Government further relaxing lockdown rules, Welsh Bowls and Bowls Wales have issued guidance which will allow us to start opening the green and club house, for outdoor drinks, to members. Whilst this will look quite different to what we’re used to, it is a step forward in terms of the club and sport.
The changing rooms will remain closed until we receive further guidance. Other social distancing measures will be in place. You will need to book a rink in advance, with rinks limited to 1 hour slots for no more than 2 players, with a 30 minute change over ring fenced. Spectators are now allowed as long as social distancing rules are applied. The bar can now open to serve drinks to be consumed outside only, therefore the weather will play a big part in this. Again, social distancing and rules applied. Members (3 Max in club) enter the club in the usual entrance, use automatic hand sanitiser inside club, order and collect drinks at bar and carry on past the bar and out through the door near the cellar. Drinks to be consumed outside in the designate area, again maintaining social distancing. Glasses and bottles, cans etc to be returned to the usual place again following same route and guidelines.
The health and well-being of our members is of paramount importance. We each have a responsibility to stick to these new measures and exercise common sense to keep each other safe. You must not attend the club if you have coronavirus symptoms or have been in contact with someone diagnosed or suspected of having the virus in the last 14 days.
We acknowledge that not all members will feel comfortable in attending at this time and we respect this and hope to welcome you all back in the near future when everyone does feel they are happy to return.
We will continue to review the rules and guidance and respond accordingly. I look forward to seeing you at the green soon.
The post-lockdown rules
These rules are in place for your safety and that of your fellow bowlers and are in addition to any Government guidelines:
All rinks MUST be pre-booked
No more than 2 per rink with a 1 hour limit
Players must stick to the 2 metre rule
The jacks, mats etc must be wiped down after use
You must use your own bowls
If you have Coronavirus symptoms, or have recently been in contact with someone either diagnosed or suspected of having the virus, please do not attend the Club. It’s really important you adhere to the Government self-isolating guidance so as not to risk infecting other members or their families.
