Beaufort Bowls News
As reported last week Sunday saw us hosting the Savegar Cup match between Penyglyn and South Wales and Monmouthshire, congratulations to the ladies from our club who were involved in the game which saw Penyglyn secure 4 points to SW&M 18, a creditable performance against a strong team.
The week started with a few of our guys playing county championship bowls and an excellent game at Harlequins saw the Monmouthshire lads win by four shots. Mid Glamorgan 115 Monmouthshire 119. This result gives the lads a great chance to get to Llandrindod Wells having won two from two.
Unfortunately our friendly with Mountain Ash on Monday was postponed as was the ladies match against Abertillery on Tuesday. Wednesday saw us open our West Mon League fixtures, with a 12 points to 2 win at local rivals RTB Ebbw Vale.
The club played host to the county O60 team on Tuesday, a good day for the club and special thanks are due to the many members who helped make this day a success. The green, the catering and the bar service all helped to make it a great day for the club.
The week was supposed to start with a celebration match at Beaufort with the MBA President against the WLB President, unfortunately the poor weather meant this match was postponed and hopefully will now be played later in the season.
The week began with a friendly game against our friends from Havelock Park Vets, great bunch of guys and a good day was had by all. Tuesday we had the county O60 trial on our green and another good day for the club, good bowls on show to give the selectors a headache in picking a team.
Week two was another wet and cold week which saw us suffer a home defeat to the Rhymney Royal guys on Wednesday scoring 44 shots to 55.
