Apologies for being a bit late this week, the ladies started the week well winning 6-4 at Merthyr West End but then suffered two 8-2 defeats, firstly ay Guest Memorial and then at home to Merthyr. They are sitting third in the afternoon league and seventh in the evening league.
A relatively quiet week for the club with Tuesdays ladies match postponed and no match in west Mon league Wednesday, Thursday the ladies won 8-2 at Brynmawr.
A super eight match at Ferndale was a tough start to the week but the guys put up a good fight before losing 42-28. Another good fighting performance on Wednesday saw our west Mon team maintain their 100% record and stay top of the table after beating second place Blaina 10-4.
A rearranged PG1 game saw us pick up four points at Barry Romilly, not a bad return against a tough opponent on their own green, Barry Romilly 10, Beaufort 4.
We hosted the over sixty county championship team on Tuesday and team manager Clive Williams was delighted to record another win and qualify for Llandrindod Wells with a game to spare.
As reported last week Sunday saw us hosting the Savegar Cup match between Penyglyn and South Wales and Monmouthshire, congratulations to the ladies from our club who were involved in the game which saw Penyglyn secure 4 points to SW&M 18, a creditable performance against a strong team.
The week started with a few of our guys playing county championship bowls and an excellent game at Harlequins saw the Monmouthshire lads win by four shots. Mid Glamorgan 115 Monmouthshire 119. This result gives the lads a great chance to get to Llandrindod Wells having won two from two.
